A closer look...
I cut my teeth as a news anchor, disc jockey, and eventually a program director for Buffalo State College's over-the-air radio station, WBNY. I was fortunate to work in radio broadcasting through experiences at WGR-AM/WGRF-FM, WYRK, and WEDG. Versatility was something that I learned quickly as a board operator, producer, news anchor, news and traffic reporter, and disc jockey.
After earning a Master's degree in Library Science, my next stop was the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System. I became a reference librarian and library branch manager. I developed a variety of collections with an emphasis on law (federal and NYS) and United States federal government information. I taught classes about computer hardware, and software, and classes about using the internet. Additionally, I served as an adjunct instructor in a reference class about federal government information for the University at Buffalo's Department of Library and Information Studies program.
My interest in helping people transform themselves and sharing information led me back to the path of education--specifically higher education and student affairs. As someone who has benefited from formal and informal educational experiences, I want to help students find their paths and support their success in pursuing their goals. I am interested in non-traditional and first-generation students.
Health and wellness are important aspects of our lives. I believe that a higher education experience should include learning how wellness fits into the bigger picture for students through a holistic approach that embraces positive activities as co-curricular ones in the educational experience.
